Fall Play: The Cashier
Lawrence Central Theatre Department presents our 2019 Fall Play, The Cashier, by IU author and playwright Glen Merzer. Performances will be on November 7, 8, and 9 at 7:00 PM in the LC Auditorium.
The Cashier is an office comedy set in the 1980s. It tells the story of Ralf, a young aspiring painter working as a mail clerk in an IRS office in Bakersfield, CA, and his rather peculiar co-workers. The Cashier debuted at Indiana University and was awarded the National Student Playwriting Award at The American College Theatre Festival. Tickets are $6 in advance and $8 at the door.
Theatre classes at LCHS include:
Theatre Arts (1 semester)
Advanced Theatre Arts (2 semesters)
Theatre Production/LC Players (up to 4 semesters)
Musical Theatre (1 semester)
Extracurricular activities include Center Stage (Drama Club) and the International Thespian Society. Any student who would like to be a member of Thespians must accumulate 100 hours in theatre work on stage or behind the scenes, which equals 10 points. Students must also be involved in at least three plays or musicals and remain in good standing with the Theatre Arts department.
The LC Players are responsible for LC Current - the televised student announcements that occur daily at LCHS. They will perform at their annual Spooktacular, the Holiday Concert, Variety Pops, Dinner Theatre, and One Acts. They also have a Comedysportz team.
Theatre students are very active during the Halloween season. They perform at Corpse Manor, Fishers' Halloween Hikes, the city of Lawrence Halloween Festival and Footlite Musicals' Halloween Spooktacular.
Performances include the Rookie Show , the MIC Theatre Act-fest, the fall play, the Thespian play, and the spring musical.
