Lawrence Central offers two levels of music theory.

Music Theory 1
This course welcomes students with varying musical backgrounds and is designed to advance their working knowledge of music theory. Using the most advanced music technology, music theory students develop skills in the analysis of music and theoretical concepts. Students will:

Advanced Placement (AP) Music Theory
This course is designed to develop musical skills that will lead to a thorough understanding of music and music theory. Upon completion of this class, students will be prepared to take the AP Music Theory Examination. Students planning to major in music in a post secondary college or university should be able to enroll in an advanced level of music theory after completing this course. Those who take the AP Test in May will be awarded a weighted grade.
