SPECIAL EVENTS FOR MUSIC (INSTRUMENTAL AND VOICE) STUDENTS

2009 ALL-STATE ORCHESTRA UPDATE

The 2009 All-State Orchestra, led by Timothy Dixon of Messiah University (www.timothydixon.com), will be performing the Overture to Russlan and Ludmilla and the Hanson 2nd Symphony, as well as premiering a new work by Melissa Walsh.
.....Audition excerpts will be taken from these works, and students will be asked to play two scales as well
. .....Students who are interested in getting a head start can listen to recordings of Glinka and the Hanson. More information will be posted soon on www.inasta.org under "Events."

2008 NEW WORLD YOUTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA YOUNG ARTIST COMPETITION
Open to Indiana student musicians (orchestral instruments, piano or voice).
Information and applications may be obtained at www.nwyso.org.

Two Divisions:
Junior Division (through age 13)
Senior Division (ages 14-18)

Entry Deadline:
Postmark deadline for entry forms and recordings is
November 15, 2007.

Entry Fee: $30.00

Live Final Round!
Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the Indiana History Center in Indianapolis

Awards:
.....The Junior Winner will perform with the New World Youth Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at the Pike Performing Arts Center.
.....The Senior Winner will perform with the New World Youth Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at the Hilbert Circle Theatre.
.....Each division winner will receive a CD or DVD of their performance with the Orchestra.

Honorarium to the winners in each division:
.....$500.00 and an iGroove iPod Speaker from Klipsch Audio in the Senior Division.
.....$200.00 and an iGroove iPod Speaker from Klipsch Audio in the Junior Division
..... $75.00 Second place winners for the Senior and Junior Divisions.
..... $50.00 Third place winners for the Senior and Junior Divisions.
