BAND CAMP: WHAT TO BRING
AND WHAT TO LEAVE AT HOME
Spirit of Central ...... LCPAA
1.
Supply of bright-colored glass chalk.
This is also called window chalk, and is used for marking drill sets. (Can be found in auto supply section of dept. store.) Students should bring three of these. Shop early; they go quickly. Bright colors are necessary to show up on the parkling lot: yellow, pink, white, bright blue work best.

Utility Apron: This is important for students to wear during rehearsals for carrying glass chalk, hand towels, drill charts, etc.
3.
 Two cases of bottled water (unflavored, 24 bottles per case). This will be collected at check-in.

Towels (1-2 for showering, 2-3 hand towels for rehearsals)

Sleeping bag
6.
Twin air mattress (for those who do not want to sleep on the floor); NOTE: Only TWIN air mattresses are allowed due to limited space and for safety reasons.

Pillow

Sunscreen and chapstick

Bug repellant
10.
Socks and Tennis Shoes: Cross trainers or walking shoes recommended; socks should be relatively thick to protect the feet, since students do a lot of marching during the week.

Swim wear (for showers only; there is no swimming at band camp).
12.
Sunglasses and hat to protect students from the sun, and help them see the director during rehearsals.

 Special clothing for Theme Days.

All necessary equipment (instrument, music, etc.)

Pencil

Plenty of summer clothes and some warm clothes..(Note! The school gets chilly at night! We recommend an extra blanket, as well)

Rain poncho or coat

Spending money for snack (optional; see #19)

Snacks. You may bring snacks to access throughout the week. They must be enclosed in a brown paper bag with your name clearly indicated on it. Staff will store them in a specific place. Please turn this in at check-in. FOOD AND DRINK NOT ALLOWED IN SLEEPING AREAS.

Medication. If you have prescription or over-the-counter medication, please turn this in to our camp nurses during check-in, and they will administer it each day.

Plastic bag for wet items and dirty clothes.

Portable CD players / walkmans / iPods are allowed. Remember to bring extra batteries.

Completed registration forms indicated on the Spirit of Central Webpage, including notarized medical form and photocopy of medical insurance card (front and back).
  And what to leave at home...
1.
 Jam boxes or large stereo equipment prohibited.
2.
 Squirt guns are prohibited.

The family pet.

Remember that you are packing for 4-1/2 days and 5 nights. However, members are limited to one suitcase, one sleeping bag, twin air mattress and pillow due to limited space.
